The last stop on my art journey with Cape May is The Mad Burger. I have nothing but pleasant and wonderful memories of my experience in Cape May. I haven’t made many designs featuring food because it’s very challenging to make something from food and to add abstract drawings makes it even more difficult. However, this design is special for one reason, the meal I had was absolutely delicious.

I went to The Mad Batter restaurant for lunch. The trip itself was spontaneous but I was planning it for quite some time. When I was searching for restaurants before my trip, I saw the name of this restaurant and I knew I had to go there. I love the name! I know I mentioned this before but I felt like I was in Wonderland and being in this restaurant cemented that feeling. The exteriors look like it could be from The Mad Hatter’s house in wonderland. The colors were spot on! It reminded of a show I used to watch as a kid called Adventures in Wonderland. It was one of my favorite tv shows at the time. When I arrived, I didn’t have wait long which was surprising because there were a lot of people there and I went there around 2pm. It was my second to last stop before heading back home. The food was incredible! I had a grilled chicken caesar salad as an appetizer and I must say that it was the best salad I ever had. It tasted so good. Honestly, the salad was better than the burger but the salad was on a heavenly level. The burger was awesome as well, almost on par with the salad. You can see the original photo on the left. I had to take a picture because it looked as good as it tasted. I knew at the time I wanted to make something out of this. I took several shots.

I can totally see someone looking at the music video and the artwork and thinking this is just crazy but I honestly love it. The design is my second favorite for this travel series, first one being lighthouse. I think the textures are great and that’s always been something I’ve struggled with in the past. My theme is a breezy, light, sea vibe with eccentric color tones because that’s how I felt the whole experience was and I think this design is almost perfect for my theme. There’s lot of blue and yellow, bits of red and white. The restaurant had lots of yellow and blue. The yellow was more subtle, not a loud yellow, but more like a creamy yellow. I didn’t want to lose the look of the burger itself and I think you definitely see everything. Most of the artwork I’ve made in the past didn’t have a theme. I usually go with the flow at the time. I find a great blend then I will explore and it can take me down unknown roads with color. I think in the future with albums I want to focus on a color theme. Primarily I would like to focus on either the atmosphere or how I felt at the time. I know not every place I’m going to visit will be as magical as Hartford and Cape May so I think it’s best to reflect on my experiences with color. You can express any emotion through color.

Once I started making the music video, it took me over a week to finish. Probably the longest time ever. Actually, it was longer because it took me a while to find a song that I felt would fit the design. I was initially stuck on what I wanted to do. I must have listened to An Example For at least a hundred times while making the video. What I like to do is visualize the motions I want to create. It definitely helps me make the video instead of trying to figure it out by the seconds. Sometimes I visualize myself dancing and try to mimic the moves with my design. Every video is a great learning experience for me. I think the videos in this album are great.

It took a long time to finish this album. I need to say that I am committed to this dream. Now more than ever before in my life. Every time I think of Cape May it makes me smile. Following the dream I have for this website has given me the best moments of my life and I don’t want the dream to end now. Now is the time to look forward.

I will be posting another video soon featuring all five videos and some footage of my time in Cape May. At the end, I’m going to a show a small video of me on the beach after visiting the lighthouse. I’m aiming to have everything up before 2019. Wow… time is flying by so fast!
