March 3rd, 2019 Update: I am adding designs and music videos made before this domain was bought in December 2013. Geometric Facial was originally posted on January 19th, 2013. I had a different domain at that time called katherinebarnett.me. Unfortunately, I lost all written content for the blog. I did write a little bit about the design on my Youtube Channel. You can read more information about Geometric Facial below. Thanks!
I’m on the road to 30 music videos! I wish I could make more during the week. Please view in HD for sharp visuals. You can see more textures that I used in the design.
I used a photo to add more shape to the design. I was really hesitant at first because the photo used is me. It’s not a great photo but I kind of like the expression. My hair was a mess when I took it, lol.
A few months ago when I did a self portrait I made myself literally disappear. I didn’t want anyone to actually see what I look like and I wanted blend myself in the design. I have issues with my appearance.
This time I wanted to test how I could blend myself completely into 3d shape and play with it. The main goal was to have the shape and me be visible. However… while I was blending the 3d shape it started creating other shapes and I was loving the direction. I saw a panda bear and a demented shaped clown. Maybe I’m just crazy… but I hope you can see it throughout the video.
What I truly hope that you can actually see me in the design. I really wanted to become part of the shape and pattern. This design took at minimum 8 hours. I worked on it Friday, Saturday, and a little bit more on Sunday after the video was finished. I was really nervous about this design. I think I have the right balance of colors. I was adamant on not adding purple and it took several hours to accept the fact it looks nice with the purple. Every other variation didn’t hit the spot for me. I hope you like it!
The songs I use for my videos are all different. My focus is to use a different artist as well to add more variety. I can’t tell you how challenging it is to find the right song for videos. But it’s still fun! 😀 I think this song really fits with the colors I used during the design process. Makes it pop more!
The song in this video is called The Squelch by Phish Funk.
