March 3rd, 2019 Update: I am adding designs and music videos made before this domain was bought in December 2013. Pattern to Odyssey was originally posted on June 8th, 2013. I had a different domain at that time called katherinebarnett.me. Unfortunately, I lost all written content for the blog. You can read more information (new) about Pattern to Odyssey below. Thanks!
I don’t remember the finer details of making this video. I don’t know where I was going with this design. Re-watching the video, it seems like my thought process was to highlight the stairs but create a new pattern by mirroring and blending the stairs multiple times. After that throwing kaleidoscope in the mix to see what could happen with the design at that point. Strange… to look back on a video that way. It feels like I made this design a long time ago. It has been over 5 years. Not too long but I definitely see a big difference in how I make videos now compared to 2013. I still have so much to learn and create. I have to say that I always love seeing the program and especially the taskbar in videos. You can see how fast or (slow… lol) I’m making the design by the time. The video feels more real time, like a proper Speed Art video. In my opinion…. of course! I think I will always miss making videos this way. Now it’s more complicated but it’s prettier and sometimes sexy. I see the progression and I want to move forward and evolve as an artist.
Song in Video: Khaki by Who Ha
Another unfortunate scenario: Free Music Archive no longer has this song available to download. I can’t find it anywhere on the website. You can purchase the song on Who Ha’s Bandcamp page.
