Kattie is a nickname that my best friend gave me in college. I love it… The colors in this design felt happy to me, like I was on a color playground. I was smiling a lot while making Kattie’s Playground. This design was fun to make. It was kind of a speed run. I felt a little stressed because I wanted to make something before the new year. At one point in the design, I played with some text. I am definitely going to sample with text in my upcoming album. I want to use text for the design cover.
I am really happy this is my last design of 2014. I am in love with the colors and the music video. I do hope you love it as well! I made six variations that I will feature in my album but will post a few on google+.
2014 has been an interesting year. Most of it has been terrible but I feel optimistic about 2015. I don’t know if I’m setting myself up for failure but I’m riding on color in 2015. I have so much I want to accomplish next year. I feel it in my bones that I can make it happen.
I really love the song I used in this music video. Every music video feels a part of the design process. It takes several hours to make a video. I had a song in mind but thought if I can find something within the next hour, I will use it. I found Giving It Up and I knew in the first 5 seconds that I had to use it in this video. The beats are so upbeat and I love it. It reminds me how happy I was making the design.
I can’t tell you how happy I feel about doing this… Making videos and working with color makes me feel happy to be here. I feel at this moment that all my dreams can come true.
